Journalist Specialising in Radio and Written Reporting

I'm Tamseela Ahmad, a final year Journalism student at Edinburgh Napier University.

I have worked as a researcher and producer for Voice of Islam Radio since 2023. I have collaborated with other producers to create running orders and managed a team of researchers for their Wednesday Breakfast Show. 

​

Over the course of my degree, I have gained great experience in newswriting and have learned to report events in creative, explorative, neutral, and direct styles.

I have also had experience as the web editor for Impulse, a university magazine project, where we worked to display multimedia content alongside written articles. Furthermore, I have presented on both radio and television newsdays at my university.

My interest lies in written and radio journalism, particularly reporting on identity, community, and human rights issues. I aim to use voices-led storytelling in my work, and I utilise written and audio formats to bring attention to undepeorted communities or social issues.

This was seen in the final project of my degree, Ahmadiyyat After Asad, a radio documentary exploring the long term impact of the murder of Asad Shah on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Scotland. With an interviewee-led narrative, the documentary navigates themes of community, loss, persecution, and restoration.
